Microdermabrasion Info: How it Works, Before & After Photos & FAQ's

Kathryn Dean served as the Clinical Training and Marketing Director for Genesis Biosystems, the manufacturer of the Derma Genesis Medical Microdermabrasion Systems from 2003 to 2006. Working with lead engineers from Genesis Biosystems, she developed microdermabrasion clinical protocols and aesceptic techniques in order to manufacturer the stongest and most efficient microdermabrasion systems sold on the market today.

Kathryn also taught training courses, practical procedures, published writings in several industry related magazines and a medical text book on microdermabrasion and skin rejuvenation, and created a state-of-the-art online certification and training test and video course that certified physicians, aestheticians and distributors of medical equipment throughought the world. Her input in the skin care industry helped to set the gold standard of procedures and training and brought renewed interest and recognition to Medical Microdermabrasion procedures. To date, she has performed over one thousand microdermabrasion procedures in private clinical studies, hands-on training courses, esthetic and medical trade shows, training videos, and in her own clinical skin care practice.

THE MICRODERMABRASION PROCEDURE

Microdermabrasion is an effective skin rejuvenation procedure that requires no downtime, allowing clients to resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. The procedure has been extremely popular because it is painless, predictable and a true lunch-hour treatment with minimal erythema (redness), edema (swelling) or irritation. Microdermabrasion also provides for regeneration and healing of the skin prior to the next treatment. The microdermabrasion procedure is optimally performed over a period of several weeks, with a maintenance treatment scheduled every 1-2 months apart thereafter. Treatments range from 5-6 treatments scheduled 7-10 days apart for normal skin, to 12 or more treatments for various other skin pathologies.

The procedure has proven to be clinically effective to treat or diminish:

  • Dry or Patchy Skin
  • Oily Skin
  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Sun Damaged Skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Superficial Age Spots
  • Acne Prone Skin and Acne Scars
  • Blackheads & Whiteheads
  • Post Laser Blending
  • Certain Types of Stretch Marks
  • Certain Types of Scar Tissue

    Patient/Client Benefits:

  • Non-Invasive
  • Virtually Painless
  • No Recovery Time
  • No Hazardous Chemicals or Lasers
  • Minimal Risk
  • No Anesthesia Required
  • Treats All Skin Types
  • Instant Gratification and Effect
  • Promotes New Collagen Generation

    HOW IT WORKS

    Microdermabrasion Skin Resurfacing:

Vacuum creates a bubble of skin that is lifted into the crystal flow inside the handpiece. Medical-grade aluminum oxide crystals are vacuumed across the skin's surface at the perfect angle (45 degrees) and remove the outermost layer of skin by exfoliation, exposing living skin cells that are soft, smooth and receptive to nutrients.

    microdermabrasion how it works

The underlying epidermis is also stimulated by the abrasion and vacuum. This promotes generation of new collagen which thickens the dermis and improves resistance to the effects of aging.
